Semi-retired Prof. Emeritus, still doing active research in molecular evolution and protein structure. I have been a very lucky teacher over the years, working with bright young graduate students and post docs, resulting in two humdred joint research papers. In addition I have had a chance to work with many a creative scientists, such as: Dale Kunz, Waler Fitch, Stan Ulam, Mickeal Waterman, Bill Beyer, Sam Karlin, Harold Morowitz, Hyman Hartman, Eve Neer, Bill Ralph, Roy Britten and many others. I have had a very rich scientific life. And a rich personal one, raising two sets of great sons in partnership with of two very wonderful wifes (who were also my friends). My goal has been to help educate, enrich others and get those I come in contact with to smile. I am staying active with part time teaching and research, and just finished organizing a recent Cold Spring Harbor Labs meeting on the Evolution of the Genetic Translational System.
