These are the tools of my trade: the terminal, a code editor like Vim, and Google, just to name a few.But I don't just use them merely for writing code. I see software engineering as a means to solve some of the world's most challenging problems, especially those impacting the society. For example, at the Centre for Computational Law, I developed an expert system with a team of researchers, designed to be flexible to changes in legislation or contracts, yet at the same time ensure that anyone (even without legal training) can easily obtain answers, once obscured in walls of text, within minutes as opposed to days. I have also been well sought after during my Masters-level course in data analytics where strong coding expertise was required, such as designing effective dashboards. Being involved in projects like these give me the sense of excitement and fulfilment that I so desire for my career.Outside of work, photography is one of my hobbies I enjoy. I like spending hours getting the perfect night scenery and fireworks. I also cover for some events often on a pro-bono basis, such as during my NS battalion's In-Camp Training (ICT). Pre-pandemic, I taught CPR+AED skills as part of my volunteering with SMU's Civil Defence Lionhearters (CDLH), which imparts basic emergency preparedness skills to members as well as the public. Finally, I am well known for my knowledge of public transport in Singapore, and in particular, bus routes.I am constantly looking for opportunities to hone my software engineering skills in front-end and full-stack development. I have working proficiency with React, VueJS, NodeJS and Python, although I am in the process of, and would like to learn Golang and CI/CD. I am also actively finding volunteering opportunities, especially in tech for good. Feel free to drop me a note if you are interested.
