I am currently accountable for ensuring the delivery of compassionate and highly specialized nursing care for the most critical and long-term patients including medically fragile preemies, newborns, and infants in the NICU. Established a caring and safe environment for each patient and their families. My responsibilities, recognition, and committees served on include: • Perform infant assessments, monitor closely for status changes, maintain strict compliance with electronic medical records/documentation, and notify NPs or physicians of changes in patient’s physical condition. • Selected for Family Centered Care Committee to provide holistic and family centered care to neonates and families to improve their experience during their child’s hospital stay. • Nominated for Nurse Daisy Award in 2015 (peer nominated) for outstanding nursing practices. • Selected for the Palliative Care Committee focusing on care for family and terminally ill children and was assigned additional responsibility for teaching a discharge class for parents to provide extensive education and well-being training for parents of neonates with complicated health issues to facilitate recovery following discharge.

I worked in an autonomous role requiring strong organization and time management skills visiting up to five patients per day in Knox and surrounding counties. I performed numerous duties including assessments of newly discharged infants from NICU to home, reporting findings, communicating with families, and providing patient care. During this time, I: • Collaborated with team members to remain active in patient’s care and to participate in making modifications to treatment plans to facilitate recovery or improve disease state management. • Provided the highest quality of nursing services related to wound care, medication administration teaching, IV access, PICC line care, dressing changes, G-tube/pump education, and medication infusions for cancer patients • Completed required call schedule as indicated in job requirements.

I followed NICU patients and families throughout NICU stay via TennCare contract and established communication with staff in order to collect clinical information to complete daily reviews. I performed daily data entry on collected clinical information and used clinical skills to complete weekly reports.
