For most of my career, I've led a double life. In my full-time jobs, I've helped progressive, professional services firms increase market presence and position through creative marketing, brand development and public awareness. In my part-time job at KUT (90.5 FM in Austin), I pursued my passion for radio broadcasting, writing and audio production. As broadcast media outlets evolve and expand to satellite, internet and beyond, I remain intrigued.My current passion is advocating for and exploring the future of aging. There is a trend across the U.S. to build age-friendly communities and support aging in place. Activities related to this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization include strategic planning, community team building, marketing, board relations, fundraising and event planning. This is a half-time position. Recent accomplishments:• Organized successful, inaugural events: ATX Aging & Innovation Summit (co-sponsored with Dell Medical School) and 55+ in ATX Job Fair Series. • Helped create, advocate for and implement the Age-friendly Austin Action Plan, which was adopted by Austin’s Mayor and City Council in November 2016.• Helped create an “eco-system” of Austin technology innovators, resources and investors working in the aging space and established new ties to local universities, professors and students to promote research related to aging.• Led community focus groups on a range of topics, including “What Makes a Business Age-friendly?” and “What Makes a Neighborhood Age-friendly?” • Worked with community organizations on issues related to affordable housing and accessible, walkable neighborhoods. -
