AustinUP (www.austinup.org) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was formed as a result of the Mayor’s Task Force on Aging – based on the fact that the Austin area has the nation’s fastest-growing population of people between 55 and 64, and the second fastest-growing population of people 65 and over. Working with local and regional business and civic leaders, non-profit service organizations, boomers, seniors and caregivers, AustinUP is a multi-generational, collaborative effort transforming Austin into an age-progressive, age-innovative community. At AustinUP, I promote and advocate for age-friendly policies in Austin and Central Texas. Activities related to this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization include strategic planning, community team building, marketing, board relations, fundraising and event planning. This is a half-time position. Recent accomplishments:• Organized successful, inaugural events: ATX Aging & Innovation Summit (co-sponsored with Dell Medical School) and 55+ in ATX Job Fair Series. • Helped create, advocate for and implement the Age-friendly Austin Action Plan, which was adopted by Austin’s Mayor and City Council in November 2016.• Helped create an “eco-system” of Austin technology innovators, resources and investors working in the aging space and established new ties to local universities, professors and students to promote research related to aging.• Led community focus groups on a range of topics, including “What Makes a Business Age-friendly?” and “What Makes a Neighborhood Age-friendly?” • Worked with community organizations on issues related to affordable housing and accessible, walkable neighborhoods.

Developed and implemented law firm’s B2B and B2C marketing plan and $500,000 marketing budget. Guided attorney marketing activities and provided oversight and contract management to outsourced service providers. Additional responsibilities: • Managed all media relations and events. Pitched attorneys as expert resources to news reporters. Planned and organized firm’s public and community events.• Wrote and edited articles and collateral for internal and external audiences. • Developed and implemented firm-wide social media campaign, including generating content ideas and monitoring activity. • Led firm’s 2009 website redesign and 2013 “refresh.” Duties included oversight of graphic design firm, content creation with SEO best practices and content management.

Helped lead this employee-owned technology consulting firm from start-up to $6.5 million in revenue within three years. Additional responsibilities: • Led company through three website development projects. Duties included strategy development, content management and programming. • Wrote award-winning applications for three business / community awards: 2003 Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Business Innovation Award, 2002 Samaritan Center/St. Edward’s University Ethics in Business Award and 2001 KPMG Austin Exemplar Award. • Conducted post-project quality assurance interviews with clients.

Served as local host of NPR’s Morning Edition news program, 1984 – 2000. Created, produced and hosted two on-air programs: Femme FM (2-hour radio show featuring music of all genres performed by female artists), 1994 – 2006; and the Austin Music Minute (daily one-minute module promoting Austin music and musicians), 2000 – 2007. Emceed public shows and events on behalf of station. Produced and hosted KUT’s first live-performance podcast show, Radio Without Borders. Voiced underwriting announcements. Wrote and produced promotional spots using Avid Audio’s (Digidesign’s) ProTools.
