The Associate Director for Community Engaged Student Development & Leadership has primary responsibility for overseeing two distinct functions at the university: 1) community engaged student facing programs and engagement opportunities; and 2) development and maintenance of community partnerships. The Associate Director is a member of the CCEL Leadership team and in that capacity collaborates with other leadership team members and the full CCEL team to design, develop, oversee, and implement community engagement efforts at Weber State University.

The position is a multi-faceted position, responsible for various programs intended to increase community engaged learning (CEL) opportunities for WSU students, staff, faculty and community partners. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating new programs such as community engagement programs that support students through graduation and CEL-designated departments in Student and Academic Affairs, as well as maintaining existing initiatives such as campus-wide days of community engagement, advising student groups and collaborating with campus stakeholders on community engagement programs to address social issues.-Position title change: Program Coordinator to Student Engagement Coordinator (2019)-Advised, trained, supported, and evaluated the WSU Student Association (WSUSA) Community Engagement Team (formerly Service Team) (2017-present) and co-chaired the American Democracy Project (2018-2021).-Organized and implemented WSU’s large days of service events (2017-present).-Supervised 5 student employees (2018-present).-Oversaw and managed the Barbara L. and Norman C. Tanner Fund of $200,000 over the course of 10 years.-Facilitated training and workshops (CEL, DEI, leadership, etc.).-Oversaw and managed the Weber Cares Program with the food pantry, emergency food voucher program, and fresh food collection. -Co-chaired the WSU Political Engagement Coalition of 30+ members (2019-2022).-Coordinated the Engaged Learning Series (ELS). Notable accomplishments included: coordination of the Civility Quest in April 2017 with Ogden City and organizing a visit from Bill Nye in April 2019. (2017-2023).-Oversaw coordination and logistical efforts of WSU 2020 Census.-Managed several budgets ranging from $1,000 to ~$1.5 million.-Co-wrote and co-managed grant budgets: 2020 Census: $2,500; Student Affairs Online Student Services grant: $2,500; Students Learn Students Vote Codesigner Grant: $15,416.70; Weber Cares Pantry: $10,000.

The interim co-director included work and efforts that helped me grow and expand my own skills as well as expanded the skills and knowledge of the department staff. The position included clear director and managerial functions that were added to my responsibilities as an employee in the same department. -Held regular meetings with all staff (both hourly and full time).-Responded to staff issues and questions in a timely manner and acknowledged resolutions with satisfactory timelines. This included any probationary actions that arose.-Attended leadership and department meetings as assigned and required.-Participated in director-level and Academic Affairs and/or Student Affairs Division level leadership planning and growth opportunities.-Held regular PREP meetings with staff.-Reconciled monthly budgets with the Administrative Assistant and Budget Specialist in a timely manner.-Managed a budget for the services for which my team was responsible and designated/requested funds for additional services.-Contributed to strategic planning and implementation rollout plans as they were developed by leaders in the Academic Affairs and/or Student Affairs Divisions.-Complete required training and other mandatory training required by employees and supervisors, ensuring staff had opportunities to do the same. -Ensured members of my staff had travel and training opportunities that were in line with their roles and functional jobs.-Met with the Associate Provost for High Impact Educational Experiences and Executive Director for Student Wellbeing for regular meetings.-Requested evaluation of skills and knowledge gained in this capacity following the interim period.

-Developed diversity-related training and workshop materials to present to classes, student leaders, faculty, staff and community members.-Implemented close to 100 events per year relating to diversity and inclusion in partnership with on- campus and off-campus organizations.-Advised the WSUSA Diversity Board with eight students, including one Vice President position.-Evaluated large diversity events to understand the knowledge gained and how to improve with future programs.-Facilitated close to 80 workshops and trainings per year relating to diversity and inclusion.-Chaired or co-chaired close to nine planning committees and the Diversity Task Force Committee for the Student Affairs Division.-Organized the Annual Diversity Symposium, Annual Diversity Conference, Annual Native Symposium, Annual Gospel Music Festival, Annual MLK Freedom Breakfast and March, Holocaust Remembrance Week, Luau, Black History Month and Women’s History Month.-Reached out to departments or community organizations to find ways to better serve the needs of students or the community through programs and events.-Worked with the Ogden City Diversity Affairs Officer to understand what kind of partnerships to establish in order to understand the relationship between Ogden City and Weber State.-Maintained relationships built between Student Affairs staff and Academic Affairs faculty to improve programming and ways in which it is implemented, marketed, organized, etc.-Managed day-to-day operations from clerical duties to design work.-Managed a $12,300 budget for the WSUSA Diversity Board and the diversity department.
