Analyzed the needs of customers and designed control systems for new installations and improvements to existing installations of assembly lines in manufacturing plants. Specified drives, photoeyes, relays, controllers, I/O cards, power sources, scanners, and many other devices to be installed on lines. Designed the panel layout of these systems and performed the necessary current calculations for sizing of fuses and circuit breakers. Wrote the logic in programmable controllers to control the devices. Designed the HMIs for the systems. Wrote technical instruction manuals and performed training seminars to accompany the new or modified installations. Performed total equipment upgrades including specifying the new equipment to be purchased, modifying the existing drawing packages, converting the logic, redesigning the HMI, and performing all necessary debugging and I/O checkout procedures for the upgraded system. Setup new and modified existing vision systems for process verification. Drew up estimates, wrote proposals, and adhered to tight project budgets. Regularly followed the software development lifecycle when developing new databases and systems including writing and designing a new human resources database and a system for monitoring and processing unclaimed property. I was responsible for the design, implementation, verification, and maintenance of these systems from start to finish. I wrote the programming code, designed the front end HMI screens, and created and managed the SQL tables that would store and process the data. I also designed and edited production reports from daily activities through inception to date reporting. I deployed and designed an internal wiki site on a virtual machine that would store training material and reference documents. I audited databases for inaccuracies and made edits when necessary. Worked with electrical and controls engineers to learn the day-to-day demands of a manufacturing environment. Participated in weekly meetings geared towards reducing manufacturing costs and going over budget restrictions. Worked closely with the accounting department and generated macros in Microsoft Excel VBA to automate their daily and weekly status reports. Designed and programmed a manufacturing defect log in Visual Studio 2008 written in C++ that ran on the assembly line to allow defects to be accurately and quickly entered into the system. Designed and implemented a Visual Basic 6.0 program that would save and track revisions of plant controlled documents. Restructured a manufacturing line to allow for a more streamlined process from receiving through shipping including storage and assembly of the parts.
