Simultaneously, my family was going through profound changes –loss, traumatic injury, and the potential need for long-term support. When the urgency of the situation at home became undeniable, I knew I had to concentrate my efforts entirely on my family.I came across the concept of Radical Sabbatical—a period of purposeful time away to manage personal challenges while still setting professional goals. This approach gave me structure, clarity, and a sense of balance during a challenging time.A radical sabbatical is different from the traditional approach—it’s driven by necessity, unconventional, and adapts to meet evolving personal and professional needs. In addition to supporting my family through caretaking and advocacy, I have set the following Professional Goals:➥ To deepen my fundraising acumen and leadership expertise in the nonprofit universe to stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and industry insights. +Earn certifications for leadership, technology, team building, AI, data science, and more +Attend the recommended You-Tube U courses that are free, read the articles and books I have been saving or were shared by colleagues. +Attend free webinars – particularly on CRMs and use of data and AI in major/principal giving (fascinating!)➥ To commit my talents to an organization that aligns with my passions and values, and provides a healthy culture for employees, donors, and those they serve. +Network. Keep in touch with my people, connect wherever I am, reach out to experts who know what I would like to know. +The world is big, be curious.
