Simultaneously, my family was going through profound changes –loss, traumatic injury, and the potential need for long-term support. When the urgency of the situation at home became undeniable, I knew I had to concentrate my efforts entirely on my family.I came across the concept of Radical Sabbatical—a period of purposeful time away to manage personal challenges while still setting professional goals. This approach gave me structure, clarity, and a sense of balance during a challenging time.A radical sabbatical is different from the traditional approach—it’s driven by necessity, unconventional, and adapts to meet evolving personal and professional needs. In addition to supporting my family through caretaking and advocacy, I have set the following Professional Goals:➥ To deepen my fundraising acumen and leadership expertise in the nonprofit universe to stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and industry insights. +Earn certifications for leadership, technology, team building, AI, data science, and more +Attend the recommended You-Tube U courses that are free, read the articles and books I have been saving or were shared by colleagues. +Attend free webinars – particularly on CRMs and use of data and AI in major/principal giving (fascinating!)➥ To commit my talents to an organization that aligns with my passions and values, and provides a healthy culture for employees, donors, and those they serve. +Network. Keep in touch with my people, connect wherever I am, reach out to experts who know what I would like to know. +The world is big, be curious. I designed and implemented a Development and Alumni Engagement Program from ground up for the newly founded school at Pitt.➥ Exceeded SCI FY 22 total giving by 26% in FY23. ➥ Orchestrated SCI’s involvement in Pitt Day of Giving, leading high-level planning, and detailed execution. Cultivated relationships and advanced gift conversations at a major gift level of $50,000 and higher.➥ Partnered with the dean, served as a key resource and trusted advisor; constructed fundraising priorities aligned with dean’s vision in coordination with the campaign/direction of PAE.➥ Evaluated ideas to foster active engagement with the SCI Board of Visitors, managed member relationships, member of the Executive Committee.➥ Composed a comprehensive and detailed Annual Fundraising Plan each fiscal year. First year results were a 32% increase in fundraising. ➥ Co-created a CRM-based pipeline and proposal system, introduced formal prospect research and portfolio management, and led prospect review meetings, resulting in a higher average gift size, elevating major gift levels from $1,000 to $5,000, and closing $25,000 endowment gifts. Key impacts include eliminating mutual arrest practices, establishing mandatory law enforcement training, and launching the Bridge Program at Slippery Rock University, offering victims confidential support and advocacy.➥ Served as the organization’s primary public representative, regularly engaging with media outlets, presenting to various audiences, and overseeing fundraising campaigns. Handled the majority of written communication for the organization.➥ Collaborated with Board of Directors regularly, responded to individual questions, provided reports on funding, budget, and programmatic progress.
