When I first started at Johnson Controls in 1996 I had no idea that nearly 20 years later I would still be here and what kind of experiences I would have had. I have learned so much and developed so many talents in that time. I started in Sales (due to the fact that I sold auto parts to put myself through college) and initiated some innovative ways to satisfy customers which allowed me to be promoted to Marketing. As my knowledge gained I wanted to learn more about what our product was and went into technical support. This was a great opportunity for me to learn exactly what we do. I learned the complexities of a modern digital building control system. When we embraced Six Sigma I was in the first wave of Black Belts and I realized I had found my calling in Continuous Improvement. I went into the 'Back Office' Six Sigma team and worked on transactional projects. As my skills matured I became a Master Black Belt which meant training others and mentoring teams of Black Belts. I expanded my range of skills to include Kepner-Tregoe, Lean, TRIZ, 8D and many other tools. It is great to feel like you are really making a difference and my team is like family.
