I performed hardware acceptance tests on ABB's DCS systems. I tested I/O modules, redundancy, breaker failover, IEC 61850 (just showing that a GOOSE message can be sent), and modbus. Drafted and cleared punch list items. I also backchecked the ABB 800xA system applications connected to the project to ensure the program connections matched the physical connections.I assisted in implementing the IEC 61850 communication protocol into a customer's SCADA system on site. This was the first commissioned 61850 project in the U.S. by ABB. I tested load shedding scenarios from the main substation to the respective relays in each set point. I also tested blocking and tripping protection schemes across the site. I recorded and evaluated the data to make sure it satisfied the customer's needs and wants. I am currently organizing all drawings and documentation for another project in our project repository. I am making sure that all drawings are separated by their respective substations and voltage levels. I'm also keeping layout drawings separate from the single lines. I have labeled each drawing in the repository to make finding a document easier and less time consuming.

The project we had worked on as a whole was an solar powered induction motor drive system for a water filtration system. My job was to research/study, model, and determine the equivalent circuit parameters. For my research, I was to determine a three phase, and eventually single phase, induction motor's reactions to various loads, starting characteristics, and operating characteristics, which includes speed control. I then modeled that induction motor in SimuLink for our total system SimuLink for verification of our results and expected values. In order to model the motor, I had to determine the induction motor's equivalent circuit parameters based off of three tests: dc, no load, and locked rotor tests. Running these tests would give me the voltage, current, and power values necessary to determine the equivalent circuit and parameters to use for the motor model in SimuLink.
