Terry Rubin is a seasoned communication expert who has spent his career helping individuals perfect their message and presentation skills. Since 2011, Terry has provided independent consulting to a range of individuals and companies looking to elevate their preparation for major presentations, interviews, and other public speaking engagements.Terry’s experience includes nearly two decades as an award-winning producer with the PBS Newshour. As a journalist he covered major stories across the globe including the war in Kosovo, Hurricane Katrina, and four Presidential elections. These experiences provided deep insight into what makes a good interview, how to be prepared for video appearances, and yielded essential strategies for successfully presenting in high stakes environments. Throughout his career, Terry worked with on-air talent to enhance their communication techniques.

I am the Head Speech Coach and I will be teaching 10th grade History and 11th and 12th grade English. I have freelanced as a Producer and Sr. Producer for RMPBS/ CPR in Denver, CO and for the PBS Newshour as both a producer and correspondent. Started Terry Rubin Consulting focusing on Corporate Public Speaking and communication training and coaching and media training.

I developed a news/public affairs pilots with both Colorado Public Radio and Rocky Mountain PBS. Using the editorial talents of CPR and the technical prowess of RMPBS. 1st show airs on September 8th! I oversaw story development, interviews, directed a majority of the shoots, scripting process, and the editing of each segment as well as the entire show.

I worked as a journalist with the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour, The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, and The PBS Newshour for 18 years. I covered such stories as the Oklahoma City Bombing, 5 Presidential elections in the field, at conventions, and help coordinate studio coverage, Hurricane Katrina, The War in Kosovo, The Gulf Oil Spill, as well as stories on issues ranging from the economy, environment, labor, and sports. I worked to produce dynamic studio segments as well as thoughtful and engaging documentary reports from around the world.

I produced, wrote, researched and directed breaking news and long form tape reports covering the economy, labor, environment, politics, race relations, science, healthcare, education and foreign policy.

Produced extended long form stories on security concerns with Democratic and Republican Conventions as well as produced a 30 minute show on the US Olympic Ice Curling trails in Ogden, Utah.

Was on the setup unit where I produced 3 to 5 minute tape packages that would lead into the discussion segments. Sometimes they were stand alone pieces. Wrote and edited under daily deadline pressure

Produced studio discussions on the everything from Budget issues in Washington to Environment to Labor to the markets. Would also do leg work and research on tape segments that dealt with economic issues. Would do some field reporting and producing but mainly studio segments.

Did story research, wrote and edited stories. Did on air reporting. Highlights of my reporting: Reported and the first prison break from the Peoria County Jail, garment worker strike, Caterpillar employees preparing for layoffs, and a renaissance festival where I learned how to joust.
