Responsible for board and system level debug for a new telecommunications system including updating the design from the schematic level and managing the design update through PCB layout to prototype manufacturing. Developed product hardware diagnostic test software in an embedded Linux environment while debugging new hardware device drivers. Coordinated and supported the product test though the NEBS 1 testing process.

Aided in the development and test system development of the Inphase Holographic drive.

Senior Design Engineer responsible for development of the PC boards for the next generation product. Responsible for detailed board specifications, schematics, thermal design, power supply design, high speed memory bus design, stack-up, coordinating layout, and incorporating design for test. Provided on-site support for prototype and initial production builds and test system deployment in factories in Malaysia and China.

Senior Systems Engineer responsible for rapid development and test of product demonstration and development units for a line of IC based video displays. Responsible for system level integration and PC board design from specification, design and performance verification testing, to internal customer support. Received the Employee of the Month Award in my fourth month of service for the novel use of test equipment to allow demonstration of a new product.

Lead Hardware Development Engineer Engineering support for market development of a new line of mid-range Network Attach Storage file servers. Developed the hardware verification test lab and test plans, and was responsible for system level troubleshooting for internal customers and external customer beta test.Responsible for tape drive mechanism system integration from development of detailed specifications through initial production ramp for three low cost, high volume designs. Provided cost analysis, component/supplier selection, PC board development, electrical support for head positioning development, and system level DVT and execution. Supported the products through initial production ramps and provided troubleshooting of system level problems to root cause.

Development Engineer responsible for subsystem designs, second sourcing of IC’s, and system test for tape drive mechanisms. Developed a hall-less motor drive system for a tape drive, which substantially reduced cost of both the drive circuitry and the motor construction. Participated in the development of a low cost MR tape head by providing technical assistance to the manufacturer, developing a rapid prototype head test system for measuring optimal read bias and write current, and optimizing filter programming. Performed thermal tests and worked with the mechanical design team to increase airflow to improve reliability and performance. Colorado Memory Systems was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 1993.

Electronics Engineer with a small technology start up developing a PC display utilizing a fiber optic interconnect. Responsible for system design, VGA display subsystem design, coordination of PC board layout, product test software development, and driver software development for a multi-user DOS.
