-First assist in surgery, including anterior posterior spinal fusion, transforaminal lumbar/thoracic fusion, decompressive laminectomy, microlumbar discectomy, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion or cervical total disc arthroplasty, posterior cervical fusion, laminoplasty, sacroiliac joint fusion, scoliosis/kyphosis corrective procedures, pars repair, and coccygectomy.-Perform wound closure, including deep fascia layer, superficial fascia layer, and skin as well as occasional tissue dissection and hardware placement.-Place appropriate post operative order, round on hospitalize patients, create progress notes and discharge summaries, using EPIC and CERNER.-Provide preoperative and postoperative counseling as well as health education to patients and their families. Respond to consult requests to evaluate and treat patients who are admitted with acute symptoms.-Obtain medical history, perform physical examinations, order appropriate imaging studies, and formulate possible diagnosis as well as treatment plan prior to reporting to supervising physician.-Independently run a PA clinic to examine patients, order appropriate studies, diagnose, and provide treatment plan in the absence of supervision physician or concurrently with a regularly held clinic.-Review and interpret diagnostic test data, including X-ray, MRI, CT, EMG, and any pertinent lab tests. -Prescribe appropriate medications and conservative treatments, including physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, and steroid injection.-Create a clinical note and record medical history, physical examination and imaging findings, diagnosis, and plan, using INTERGY EHR.-Make phone calls to patients to report test results and treatment recommendation.-Perform peer-to-peer reviews with physicians for insurance denials and appeals.-Gather, maintain, and compile data for Scoliosis Research Society.-Improve knowledge and skills by participating in CME programs, workshops, and reading medical literature.
