While none are cookie cutters, there are clear lessons to apply across sectors and situations. It helps to be a dedicated newshound, keeping apace with the BBC and north american outlets.The advances of technology, the omnipresent, egalitarian internet and the manipulations of modern politics have changed the way we live, work and think. More than ever, we need to mesh problem-solving technology with disciplined applications of research, focus and elbow grease. This is my gig. I feel exceptionally lucky that my experience of over 25 years in the persuasion game in politics in the UK can be redeployed and improved - with the benefit of my new digital chops. Furthermore, I understand the nuances between writing for submission to government, for the media and on digital platforms for the public. During my years as a parliamentary lobbyist in London, England, I developed a unique skill-set as a conduit of information and a negotiator between industry and Government. This enabled me to work across the breadth of government departments at all levels, including ministerial. I have conducted a number of lobbying campaigns, corporate communications strategies, stakeholder reviews, as well as, company-specific government audits, including interviews with civil servants, analyzing various businesses’ operations and policies and then presenting the findings at Board level.
