At DuPont Pioneer I am working on a HTML5 friendly single page application (SPA) using the AngularJS 1.x framework and talking to Microsoft WebAPI using RESTful service calls. Data is served up via SQL Server stored procedures and sent to the client as JSON. Target devices for the web application are iPads which are used by the sales team to invoice, deliver, and manage product inventory. The sales team can also access the web application on their desktop in the office.I am also supporting a web application running on a rough-and-tough handheld Android handheld bar scanning device used by seed reps in warehouses to manage inventory. There are currently over 100 devices distributed as a pilot group, and over a thousand more devices will be heading out this summer.My day to day tasks are: - Code JavaScript/TypeScript unit tests using the Jasmine framework - Code JavaScript/TypeScript using the AngularJS 1.x framework - Write CSS/CSS3/SASS for styling and flair - Debug on iPad and android devices - Participate in the agile scrum process - Code/Modify WebAPI methods using C# - Code/Modify/Optimize SQL Server stored procedures - Ensure that all UI elements are responsive and scale based on the device. - Implement, maintain, and update NPM packages, gulp build tasks, webpack bundling configurations, and karma test suites. - drink coffee :)As a technology lead for my team I also spend quite a bit of time - Coordinating with my SM/RA/PO to plan for future stories - Grooming stories on our backlog to flesh out any impediments - Reviewing the code checked in by my team to ensure quality and standards. - Having weekly technology meetings with my developers to review new technology and to address any issues they are having.Technology References:AngularJS: http://angularjs.org/TypeScript: https://www.typescriptlang.org/Jasmine: https://github.com/pivotal/jasmineGulp: http://gulpjs.com/Webpack: https://webpack.github.io/

The project I'm working on at FMH is a very large web based crop insurance system with about 20 developers working on half a dozen sites, at least a thousand web pages, dozens of web services, and hundreds of domain objects all riding on a behemoth Oracle database.My tasks have primarily revolved around front end development. I use Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX, jQuery and JavaScript to build a complex, yet usable user experience that meet the business requirements while leveraging C# and ASP.Net for the server side coding. I also utilize quite a bit of CSS to provide additional style to page elements. It is also a large part of my responsibilities to be a mentor for other developers, document standards on the wiki, and utilize extension methods and server controls to simplify the work of the team.I've always had a passion for understanding and utilizing client side development. I feel that this can provide the user with the best possible experience when properly combined with server side functionality. On occasion I've provided training to the team on jQuery, JavaScript, and the Telerik API, and seem to be regarded as the in house expert on these technologies.So far, this project has taught me many valuable skills. I switched from VB.Net to C# for this and although I don't dislike VB, I don't see myself switching back. C# is very concise.This is my first experience using Oracle, and I have to admit that I'm not a fan. Perhaps I'm just not a big fan of TOAD, because SQL Server had some pretty awesome user-friendly tools incorporated with it to build, optimize, and manage a database. It has been my opinion that a typical .Net developer with the proper understanding of database concepts could survive as a SQL Server database administrator, but it would take me years of experience with Oracle before I would clicking commit without some hesitation.
