WHO AM I? ➥I am the son of a Vietnam War veteran and the grandson of a US Army soldier who was interned in a Nazi POW camp during World War II. They are the foundation from which I sprang. If you will, I am the Chinese Bamboo Tree which they nurtured. (You can read all about it in my article, “My Chinese Bamboo Tree.”) Put simply, I have been taught the importance of perseverance, hard work and the necessity to earn my way.After graduating from Texas Tech, and despite the fact that I had been made far more lucrative offers, I decided to join my father’s firm. I received no special favors. I literally started from the bottom – answering phones and dispatching technicians. In other words, I learned the business from the ground up.When I was a boy, my soccer coach paid me a great compliment. During half-time, when the score was tied, he tried to rally the team. He said, “Kevin may not be our best player, but I have never seen anyone his age with a heart like his. If you give it your all, as he does, we can win this.” Even though we lost, he joined my father and grandfather as my role models and inspirations.Today I am a full partner at CTG Tech. With my father, who is now retiring, we grew the company to become, among other things, Texas’s Number One Managed Services Provider for the Healthcare Industry. In fact, that was only one of the awards we received in 2018. MEET CTG TECH:CTG Tech launched from a basement in 1982, providing computer parts and services to clients. At that time, there was a significant gap in the IT industry that we strived to fill by providing options to repair malfunctioning computers and maintain existing systems.
