As a Principal Software Engineer at Capital One I was on a team in the IAM/Cyber division. I maintained the COLO and AWS infrastructure as far as keeping OSes up-to-date, deploying new servers via VMWare or in AWS through SCCM, Chef/Jenkins recipes in AWS, Cloud Formation Templates, and build out of new VPCs via Terraform. As a Senior Systems Administrator at Capital One I was in charge of over 15,000 servers on premise and in COLO centers. I deployed, managed, and kept servers up to date using orchestration or SCCM. Performed weekly scans for vulnerabilities and planned remediations when necessary. I utilized SCCM for compliance metrics as well as software deployments and reporting. I was also in charge of fail over testing to ensure all of the environment was able to fail over to our secondary and tertiary locations successfully.For virtualization I utilized VMware infrastructure. This saved over 40 hours of work every quarter when compliance auditing was due for Cybersecurity checks.I was also placed in charge of helping application teams move their on premise infrastructure to AWS. Helping them write Cloud Formation Templates, assisting with Chef recipe builds, and working with architecture teams to ensure a complete solution for the application team.
