Yolanda “The Herbal Trucker” Bennett Co-Founder & Vice Chairman of Georgia Medical Cannabis Society Inc. Yolanda Bennett better known as The Herbal Trucker has been a cannabis advocate for more than seven years. Her passion comes from being forced out of the logistics and trucking industry due to a medical condition created from prescribed pharmaceuticals that caused damage to her organs and skeletal system. Even though Yolanda loved trucking and became a disabled truck driver, she still needed medication and could not use what she felt was the best option for her; cannabis. Although her happiest days were behind the wheel, she retired as a truck driver and began the journey of advocacy.In 2018, Yolanda co-founded the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society Inc. to serve the community and satisfy her passion for accessibility and financial feasibility for medical cannabis. She decided she needed to enter the battle of freeing this plant from the grasp of those who shamed and criminalized this tree of life. As a former Correctional Officer, she has seen with her own eyes people lose their freedom and have their futures altered due to the possession of cannabis, and she has chosen to join the fight to normalize consumption and usage of this healing plant.Her mission has grown and evolved into a podcast powered by The CannaShame Network called the CannaShame Podcast which Yolanda is the co-owner and co-host. The CannaShame Podcast focuses on removing and destroying the stigmas associated with the use of cannabis. Yolanda also has a graphics company, YLB, which includes video editing, website creation, and content creation in the form of memes and graphics for social media. This amazing advocate has passion and drive which has led to her success. Yolanda is married, born and raised in Georgia, and enjoys the complexity of politics on a local level.

I am an advocate for the relegalization of cannabis. During the days I am well enough to aid those who are seeking more information about how to obtain a medical evaluation for the low dose THC program in Georgia. The reason why aiding patients to find the necessary resources is because I am a patient myself, and when I first became a patient in the program, there wasn't any type of easy accessible recourses for patients to obtain. I wanted to help by streamlining the process by creating a platform for a one stop shop for resources. I felt that as a sick patient or a desperate parent looking for some sort of help for their children or themselves, would waste valuable time searching for some sort of help for their sick child or for themselves. This role was created to just provide this service to help save time for patients.

I was a line haul driver that was endorsed with tankers, flatbeds, combination, and hazmat. I had gained over a million miles of accident free miles before my unexpected untimely separation from this company due to my illness. In my beginning years of driving, I had to use paper maps construct my route to the drops of my loads. I drove doubles for this company through all types of conditions as a single driver. Trucking was my life long dream, that has been deferred because of my illness and the fact that cannabis is not federally legal and is the only way I have been able to manage my condition and to be able to try to regain my sense of normalcy.

I was also the first officer to be a part of the Guide Dog Program that trained offenders basic obedience training for dogs that went to different programs that ranged from dogs for the visually impaired, support animals, and rescue dogs. The guide dog program allowed me to see that helping those in need was a passion of mine.
