Led the design and development of a medical device for prostate cancer-specific markers utilizing ELISA and conducting data analyses using R to ensure technical accuracy and compliance, which reduced development time by 1/2.

In this project, I investigated the engagement of anti-GRP78 autoantibodies to cell surface GRP78 on tissue factor activation, the primary pathway involved in clot formation. Identified and tested multiple small molecules to disrupt the interaction between cell surface GRP78 and anti-GRP78 autoantibodies using [techniques, e.g., high-throughput screening], contributing to potential therapeutic pathways in cardiovascular research.Trained and mentored incoming graduate students, fourth-year undergraduate thesis students, and summer research students.

Supervised weekly small group tutorials to develop processes to analyze and understand pharmacological principles as they relate to a variety of health contexts, elaborating on the noticing and interpreting actions involved in clinical reasoning and judgment.

However, GRP78 has been found to localize to cell surface in certain disease states such as cancer and more recently atherosclerotic lesions. This project involves elucidating the role of cell surface GRP78 and identifying potential mechanisms of atherosclerotic lesion development. Using various molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR, immunofluorescent staining, and Western Blotting, we demonstrated NF-κB pathway activation in response to GRP78 autoantibody binding. Results from experiments were used for publication.
