Profile bio

About Jackie Ferguson

Raised in a multi-racial, multigenerational, multi-regional, politically diverse home, I learned to process differing perspectives in real time and engage in conversations to find bridges to understanding, empathy, and allyship. These experiences informed my work as a human rights activist and advocate. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to pursue love, happiness, and success to the standards that make their lives most fulfilled. My personal mission also links directly to my work at The Diversity Movement. As co-founder and vice president of content and programming, I lead the creative team: a talented group of writers, researchers, education creators, marketing experts, and visual storytellers. Together, we have built an award-winning content and marketing team that has produced millions of words that directly impact the lives of clients and their employees, as well as the communities where they live and work. We created TDM to authentically change the world. A significant facet of my efforts as a human rights advocate is to engage in public education that changes hearts and minds through engaging in candid discussions with c-suite executives, thought leaders, and change-makers to explore the full range of diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges and opportunities. The “Diversity: Beyond the Checkbox” podcast is recognized as one of the premiere diversity-focused podcasts available and is in the top 5% downloaded globally. My first book, The Inclusive Language Handbook: A Guide to Better Communication and Transformational Leadership, became a bestseller and has sold in 15 countries around the world. Tens of thousands of people have benefited from its introduction to the power and necessity of inclusive language, sparking a revolution in in the way people communicate in the workplace and at home. Inc. named me to its 2023 Inc. Female Founders 200 list, the 200 women leaders across America who are “shaping the world into a better place.” I extend my advocacy for DEI by serving as a member of the Forbes Business Council and National Diversity Council, as well as publishing in or providing expert commentary for numerous publications, including Forbes, WRAL TechWire, Almanac, Fast Company, Well + Good, and others. I have been a keynote speaker or presenter at meetings, seminars, and workshops across the US. I have also created the virtual privilege walk, which I have conducted for more than 10,000 people in organizations worldwide.

Listed skills include Product Marketing, Account Management, Sales, Microsoft Office, and 21 others.

To achieve that audacious dream, we must develop world-changing products and services. This is where the team I lead comes in – we broker in world-changing ideas and content. For example, the MicroVideos by The Diversity Movement library (600+ 2-10 minute long videos) was honored as a “World Changing Idea” by Fast Company. If run end-to-end, the MicroVideo library would be equivalent to 28 full-length Hollywood films. Our clients use MicroVideos to educate and inspire their employees within the flow of work, launching conversations and education that leads to workplace excellence. The content also powers “TDM Library,” diversity resource hub that provides users with expert-created and expert-curated content that they can use in their culture change programming.
