Assistant Director of Communications in the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity.

Responsible for creating on-brand marketing and communication for the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity at NC State. As a primary member of the communications team, I work to develop effective strategies for marketing Diversity and Equity on the university campus through our Campus Community Centers and other units.I am a creative problem solver, who communicates clearly and approaches every challenge with a self-starting work ethic. I routinely use best-practice project management systems to enhance collaboration, manage assets, and maintain the visibility of project workflows and timelines. I am up-to-date with industry developments, innovative strategies and tools, and routinely present new methods and approaches to my colleagues across the department to facilitate the efficient deployment of diverse and equitable marketing initiatives across campus in a fast-paced creative services environment. In addition, I am the key driver to implement solutions to communications and marketing problems that arise.

As interim director of communications, I worked to ensure that content marketing, creative direction, and brand communication efforts were grounded in a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion for all of those who sought our services and programs. This position included client management, development of creative content, asset management, and monitoring of cultural trends to ensure equitable representation for our diverse student populations in university marketing and communication.

As well as being a graphic designer, I am also a lifestyle photographer in Raleigh, NC.

Over the past two decades, I have been entrusted by clients to provide corporate branding, marketing campaigns, and annual reports. Specializing in bridging design gaps for small businesses and agencies, I have collaborated with esteemed institutions such as Wake Forest University, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University, and the N.C. Department of Juvenile Justice, among others. My extensive project experience includes working with local businesses and organizations like Communities In Schools of North Carolina, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and the N.C. Division of Public Health.In addition to my design expertise, I bring a wealth of skills developed through my years as a consultant. Multitasking, time management, and effective client communication are second nature to me. These abilities have proven instrumental in successfully liaising with internal "clients" and collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless project coordination, meeting deadlines, and exceeding expectations.

In my role with FMI, my responsibilities evolved to encompass a wide range of print design and web-related duties. This comprehensive skill set allowed me to make significant contributions in various areas including a website overhaul, corporate branding, and social media.Initially beginning as a print designer, I quickly expanded my expertise to include more web design and information architecture. This enabled me to seamlessly transition between both mediums, ensuring cohesive branding and design across multiple platforms for FMI's growing online presence.

As a web and graphic designer, I was responsible for designing and building websites dedicated to providing online continuing medical education courses and government health education grants. My web design work involved working with a team of writers, educators, and programmers to create intuitive user interfaces and optimize sites for seamless functionality. Additionally, I played a key role in marketing and branding efforts, utilizing my design skills to develop impactful visuals for trade shows, grant proposals and external marketing opportunities.
