About James Mallory
Most people in enterprise software sales came from a sales, accounting, or technical background - not me. Although I made conscious efforts to better myself professionally, there is no way that I could have planned my career path which started in journalism and has landed in SaaS software marketing and sales with public relations, product marketing, and product management pit stops along the way.My professional experience is important to me but I believe that integrity is more important in business. As such, I think it's important to get to know people on a personal level. I'm pretty much an open book so I'll start by saying that I am not normal by any stretch of the imagination. Several online quizzes have confirmed that I'm a right-leaning Libertarian Quaker (seriously). How does this happen to the son of a reformed Democratic, Catholic mother and Presbyterian father? I never knew the capacity I had to love anything or anyone so completely until my boys were born. I devour ribeye steaks like a lion shredding a wildebeest - meat, fat, gristle and all. I enjoy marathon, solo bike rides on dirt roads at night and yodeling from the tops of mountains. My favorite smells are fresh-cut lawn at sunrise; hickory campfire smoke as it filters through evergreen boughs; the smell of dusk as it lays heavy on hayfields on sticky summer evenings; and oak-laden Chianti - any Chianti - good or bad but always at room temperature. Sometimes I write with crayons and talk like Karl from Sling Blade just for fun. I've been mistaken for French Stewart, the goofy alien from Third Rock from the Sun.I have more patience than anyone you've ever known, am passionate in life and love, and have learned that a sense of humor, compassion, and friends are far more valuable than material possessions, good looks, or popularity. I drive like an old woman with cataracts. I'm confident in who I am and realize that I am a neophyte, constantly striving and never a finished product.
