About Mark Ingalls
I am a meteorologist with over 15 years of professional, volunteer, and amateur experience. Between forecasting real-time on an energy trading desk at Avangrid and providing weather information to the public via my regional weather page, I am able to combine my passion, knowledge, and worth ethic to drive my ability to mass-produce quality content. I am looking to combine my connection with people and understanding of weather to bring weather forecasting and accessibility of quality weather information to the next level. Through this quality data, I strive to make contributions to the growth of the renewable energy sector. At my current role as a meteorologist with Avangrid Renewables, I feel that I have been given that opportunity. My main responsibility in my role is to forecast wind and solar energy output. By closely watching observations, radar, satellite, and model data I am able to combine these with my knowledge of mountain meteorology and local microclimates giving my colleagues the data they need to maximize the amount of clean power our company puts on the grid.At AgWeatherNet, I took an internship in learning how to manage and maintain a network of weather stations, launching my career when I later transitioned to full-time employment by showing my aptitude for developing and utilizing relationships with landowners and other stakeholders to produce accurate and reliable data on Washington’s climate that meets the needs of the state’s diverse economy. In high school, I had a passion that had grown and continues to grow with time, so I created a Facebook page that I could just post about whatever weather related topics I felt like. What started as a simple Facebook page about local weather at the beginning of high school turned into a region-wide effort to bring timely weather information to the public, radio stations and government agencies during high-impact events that kick-started my career. This included extensive use of programs such as Microsoft Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, and accurate reading of numerical weather models. After high school, I served an LDS Mission in Omaha, Nebraska, where I served as a district leader in West Omaha and in the Grand Island area. As a district leader I oversaw and aided in the efforts of 8-12 missionaries as well as accurately reporting weekly efforts to mission leaders. Also in Omaha, I was able to work with local church leadership and city governments following severe weather to plan and direct storm cleanup efforts.
Listed skills include Climate, Weather, Forecasting, Public Relations, and 10 others.
