Theodore DawsonTheo’s passion began for the arts at an early age when he saw his first puppet show at Oakland’s Fairyland. Theo has worked on the window display teams of Saks Fifth Avenue SF, Macy’s SF, Gumps, Henri Bendel NY, Louis Vuitton and I. Magnin & Co. SF. Theo was responsible for window design, staging and composition, lighting design and installation.Some of his favorite projects have been lighting design for the Bob Mackie Christmas windows at I. Magnin, Macy’s 60th Annual Flower Show and the 2006 Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday windows. Theo has designed events, parties, and night club décor in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Las Vegas including Dining by Design for EL Décor magazine, the governor of California’s Christmas tree, a special Christmas tree for Save the Children at Davies Symphony Hall, Oracle’s Christmas and three special holiday displays for the Sir Frances Drake Hotel and their Starlight room nightclub.Theo spent a large amount of time designing settings and costumes for Barrango the world’s largest Christmas décor company. Theo would travel to up to five shopping centers a year to supervise the installations of new décor programs. Theo’s theatrical credits include production work on over 50 musicals. He toured with the off Broadway show “Halfway There” and then spent nine years as production manager for Guy’s R Dolls a female impersonation review.In 2006 Theo took all of his creative abilities and created Zanzibar Puppets and in 2008 opened its first production of Cinderella.
