In this cross-functional role I'm responsible for supporting the complete ecosystem of Excelsius technology in healthcare systems across the company's global market. This includes Excelsius GPS, a revolutionary robotic navigation platform designed to optimize patient care and surgical accuracy, and Excelsius 3D, an intelligent 3-in-1 imaging platform designed to meet the needs of the modern operating room. As an Excelsius technology expert, I provide real-time troubleshooting support to Globus representatives in the field, perform quality related investigations of Excelsius products, and work closely with the Field Service Team to triage incoming service requests. These responsibilities culminate a strong collaborative effort with both the Clinical and Product Development teams to continuously improve the products offered within the Excelsius portfolio.

While completing my graduate coursework, I worked under the guidance of Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Paul Pollice, as a Medical Scribe in the Total Joints Division of OAA Orthopaedic Specialists located in Allentown, PA. It was there that I facilitated the flow of patients into examination rooms for their designated appointments; performing the pre-exam intake of vitals, documenting their reason for the visit, and taking notes on their presented symptoms and concerns.

I was a member of Dr. Bojana Gligorijevic’s laboratory within the Temple University Bioengineering Department. As the primary Research Assistant within the Gligorijevic Laboratory, I was responsible for supporting the research studies of my colleagues which included several post-doctoral researchers and doctoral students. This included balancing time-sensitive experiments with my own undergraduate course work and often being trusted to perform the outlined procedures unassisted in order to increase productivity within the lab. The Clinical Immersion Program is a collaborative internship between the Temple University Hospital (TUH) and Bioengineering Department, designed to expose engineering students to various surgical specialties. I had the opportunity to integrate within two separate surgical teams of the hospital that summer, the Thoracic and Transplant services. Through nearly 200 hours of peri-operative shadowing and partnership with various professionals, my team was able to identify numerous needs that would help facilitate the care of patients at TUH. Ultimately, theoretical design enhancements of surgical robotics systems in use at TUH to optimize OR workflow were chosen as the research topic and presented to professional engineers, Temple faculty, healthcare professionals, and peers.

The Research Scholar program provides undergraduate students the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to healthcare professions while also fostering clinical research skills at the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). I was fortunate to spend over 200 hours shadowing the surgeons of LVHN's Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, observing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG), Aortic & Mitral Valve Replacements, and Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR). This experience allowed me to better understand surgical patient care from start to finish, gain insight into the engineering behind cardiothoracic surgical instrumentation, and participate in clinical research benefiting LVHN. Under the guidance of Cardiothoracic Surgery Chief, Dr. James Wu, I researched the outcomes of TEVAR procedures in traumatic injuries as well as the effect of chamber remodeling via Septal Myectomy on left ventricular physiology.
