About Megan Ryan

After about a decade as a sports reporter covering everything from high schools to MLB in places like Dallas and Pittsburgh, I recently made the shift to being an editor in the Star Tribune's business department. I still love reporting and miss the wild lifestyle that came with being a sports journalist. But I felt it was important to gain leadership experience. As a young woman of color, I am acutely aware of the need for more diversity in powerful positions. I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to become an editor, and I had to seize it. But I look forward to seeing what the rest of my career holds, whether that is continuing to rise in the editing ranks or returning to writing and reporting as a columnist or something else entirely! In whatever work I do, I know my focus will always remain on people and community.
