Patrick McGowan runs Punchn Communication. He works with leaders who want to solve problems and achieve clarity through better communications. His mission is to empower more human connection. In 2020 he launched Punchn. This first iteration helped people solve the problem of how to look and sound like a professional on Zoom. People who worked with him reported having more energy, more engagement, and more influence. As one workshop participant shared, “I see now that it’s not just about my ideas. I know now that I am just as important.”At the same time, he began advising public health senior deputies on how to lead more effectively in uncertain times. His expertise is in Adaptive Leadership, the human-centered practice of increasing people’s adaptive capacity—the ability to clarify values and make progress on hard-to-define problems. Throughout his 25+ year career you’d find him solving problems at the intersection of art and technology. Whether it was leading a 3-year healthcare innovation initiative to integrate behavior health in primary care across 33-clinics, coaching a small group of female philosophy professors on how to have more power on camera, or asking harder questions of a potential customer to achieve real clarity —his work has relied on connecting dots, building bridges, and often clarifying what different factions wanted to say and what they wanted others to understand.
