Whilst working on a freelance basis, my work included research and copy-writing white papers and other fulfilment documents for email sales and marketing campaigns, as well as websites.

In my previous position, I had a dual role; I wrote copy for Hibu premium websites and project managed the writing and designing of Hibu websites.My primary goal was to write engaging, keyword rich content that reads naturally and that would entice prospective customers to continue reading, or to make a purchase. This content was based on information given to me by the customer during our initial consultation, along with my own research.At the core of this role was creative writing, which was the key asset I offered to Hibu when I was first employed there. This is a skill that was refined during my time with the company, and one that gained me regular plaudits from Hibu’s QA team, my managers, my colleagues and, most importantly, my customers. It is also a personal passion.From early on in my time at this company, my abilities in writing, project managing and providing a smooth customer journey were recognised. I was regularly called upon to write sites for difficult or unhappy customers, or sites that colleagues had found hard to write. I was also called upon by my last manager at the business to act as her deputy and take responsibility for the team in her absence.Throughout my time at Hibu, my role changed significantly and I adapted with it. When the opportunity to write content was reduced, I focussed on project managing offshore writers and coordinating with our designers to create the vision the customer had outlined for us.I am interested in pursuing a management role, but I would very much like to continue writing in my next position and am keen to expand my skill set into writing for social media and other formats.

This role was in a contracting capacity, working for Lloyds TSB through Huntswood; initially assessing amounts owed by the bank to customers who had been mis-sold PPI insurance products, and eventually assessing whether or not customers had a valid claim. Both parts of this job entailed following rigid, lengthy and detailed processes with little room for error. Calculations required in depth research into the customers’ history with the bank before any offer could be made. Reviewing potential claims entailed research into the customer’s applications to the bank and contacting the customer directly to obtain key information regarding their personal circumstances at the time of application. This was a challenging role, which I enjoyed a great deal. It was also my first experience of contracting, and I would gladly work on a contract basis again.

As an investigator, I was responsible for locating parties who had caused damage to property insured by our clients. Using every available resource, including; financial databases, police liaison, council liaison and street level communication (with residents living close the targets of investigation), I located responsible parties and obtained either relevant insurance information, or details of their current financial position. This information was passed to our clients in the form of a report, which offered recommendations, based on the likelihood of recovering their costs. The second aspect of my position entailed proofing reports submitted by my colleagues before they were sent to our clients. The reports must be thorough, accurate and written to a high standard. It was my responsibility to make sure that the investigators had explored every possible avenue of investigation and that their conclusions and recommendations were sound and practical. It was also important to ensure that enquiries with insurers were thorough, so as to avoid any unforeseen difficulties later in the claim. I had the authority to return work that was not completed to my satisfaction and the autonomy to make decisions when the outcome of an investigation was not clear cut enough to provide our clients with a definitive solution.In each of my appraisals, my manager referred to me as an asset to the company. When I was originally employed by Vestigo, I was informed that there was no room to advance above my starting position, yet through my endeavours and hard work, I was promoted in less than eighteen months.
