Oversee the implementation of the Mindfulness Initiative. Manage a department that focuses on health promotion through policy, systems and environment change. As part of that job, I manage a Safe Routes to School program that is implemented in 11 schools and facilitate a coalition of organizations that support and advocate for vibrant, accessible and equitable communities in Flint and Genesee County.

Lead communication efforts at the Crim Fitness Foundation, a health and fitness nonprofit organization in Genesee County dedicated to creating a healthy, accessible and active community through programming, events and policy advocacy. In addition, I facilitate Safe & Active Genesee for Everyone, a coalition of organizations (nonprofits, government agencies, neighborhood associations, etc.) that supports and advocates for creating a safe and active Genesee County. I also manage a Safe Routes to School Coordinator, a LISC AmeriCorps member, interns and volunteers.- Oversee advertising and marketing - Attend expos and fairs to share our story- Write and edit magazine articles, press releases, email newsletters and content for marketing materials - Coordinated editing, design and production of Annual Report.- Oversee editing, design and production of organization event brochure.- Produce/edit video on the impact of CrimFit Mindfulness in elementary schools.- Participate in master plan advisory group and assist in development of Flint master plan objectives and strategies for transportation and mobility.- Manage the work of Safe Routes to School, which takes place in all 11 Flint Community School buildings.

Assist customers with questions or concerns, direct customers to the proper staff persons, provide support for staff in a variety of duties such as database management, customer relations, messages, merchandise sales and the creation of documents and illustrations. In addition, lead a youth program once a week and fulfill a variety of administrative tasks for the office.

Assist in the management of the daily operations at Buckham Gallery. Job duties included writing and sending press releases about exhibitions and events at the gallery; managing the gallery email list, Web site and other online presences; write/edit the Buckham Gallery newsletter; providing curators and point persons everything they need to set up for exhibitions; assist in creating sponsorship packets and obtaining newsletter advertisers and show sponsors.

A combination of editorial and advertising work including educate staff on new media, host training sessions, assist staff throughout day, post news online, add interactive elements, write web headlines, track revenue of online advertising products, manage the Flint Journal social media presence (Facebook), create and maintain Web sites and work with affiliates at MLive.com.

Main beat was education. Also reported business, government and general assignment. Other responsibilities included posting news online, taking photos and participating in community events. I really enjoyed this job, but I left this position at the Journal to accept a promotion.
