As a Forefront librarian, I aid members, staff, and the general public in conducting research and utilizing the Library’s resources including databases such as GuideStar and Foundation Directory Online. My work also entails organizing Forefront’s archives and managing the Library website. Additionally, I present workshops and creates tools and research guides for Forefront’s educational programming.

Louisville, Kentucky Area

I worked with students, faculty, and staff to increase recognition of, interest in, and engagement with the library. I acted as a liaison with various departments to ensure that the library supports the educational needs of our students. I also planned programming to demonstrate how the library acts as a community center. Finally I oversaw the library's social media presence to utilize technology in the ongoing mission to reach out to patrons where they are.

I wore a wide variety of hats at Strayer. I provided reference assistance. I helped students, faculty, and staff with technical difficulties (everything from forgotten passwords to copy machine errors to faulty internet connections and overhead projectors). Supervisor from 10/2007 through 3/2009 and from 1/2010 to presentI worked a large number of positions at Borders. I advanced from cashier to supervisor with several varied positions in between. My experience included providing excellent customer service, training new hires, supervising sales staff, reconciling purchasing cards and accounts payable reports, overseeing payroll, researching school and business book orders, ordering supplies, and processing deliveries.

My position here let me learn about social networking sites and how they can be utilized for libraries, how to create online instructional content (via LibGuides), how to assist student, faculty, and community patrons with their reference questions, how to teach class sessions as well as small workshops, and how to research collection development policies and procedures (especially the discussion surrounding Graphic Novels).

Created Yahoo Group for teen book discussion. Led workshops and activities designed for young adults. Researched possible grant. Weeded and recommended new titles for graphic novels.
