Created and run one of the more successful digital photography sites on the Web. Sites are in the top 1% of Web traffic (all sites) and surpasses 1m unique visitors a year, yet are successful solely on word of mouth. The original site spawned additional sites, most notably sansmirror.com and dslrbodies.com. Bythom was one of the first successful eBook marketers (2001), and has been profitable since inception.

Headed Backpacker magazine's editorial and creative departments and managed Backpacker's initial online presence. Magazine grew significantly in both circulation and reader satisfaction during my tenure.

RAM Doubler, Speed Doubler, QuickCam, VideoPhone, QuickCards, and a host of other products were created and managed under my tenure there. Helped drive the products that took the company from $5m annually to $65m annually in four years.

Originally started as design review board consultant, eventually joined the company full time as evangelist.

Originally ran product management, then headed the publishing, documentation, software (in house and republishing) and other groups within the company.

Responsibilities included managing crack team of tech journalists, including folk like John Markoff (now at New York Times) and Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine (authors of Fire in the Valley). Led team to transition from bi-weekly to weekly publication.
