About Thomas Archer

My experience starts at GKN Aerospace as both an apprentice and a Skilled Aeronautical Airframe Fitter. During my time there, I have achieved a Level 3 National Vocational Qualification and have earnt a very good reputation within the company as a reliable, hard worker. As Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering covers many techniques, complex skills and requires in depth knowledge, I believe that having had the chance to experience each department within an establishment such as GKN Aerospace is a unique strength of mine; I have seized all of the opportunities I could to gain as much as possible from the diverse apprenticeship course. My ambitions are to move forward with my engineering career into roles of higher responsibility and technical capability. An example of when I’ve shown my drive and critical thinking skills is when I worked closely with a Principle Engineer to start up a new Fixed Wing engineering department within the company. In this project, I showed my ability to work independently and on my own initiative including making arrangements and plans for time estimations, tooling orders, Bill of Materials, and operation descriptions. I strive to be successful in any job that I am given, I’m always determined to exceed expectations and show my colleagues and team what I am capable of. During my spare time, I made the decision to further enlighten and educate myself with Online Courses from academic providers such as University of Bath and University of Southampton; examples of these courses are Contract Management and Managing People – Engaging your workforce.I aspire to be in a supervision or management role as I am confident that from my own experiences, and courses that I have educated myself in, I will be able to learn and adapt quickly to execute the job efficiently. I am confident to lead a team and I would relish a challenge outside of my current working scope.

Listed skills include Aerospace, Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and 12 others.
