Reduced supply risks on the strategic and bottleneck categories by partnering with suppliers and finding alternative sources. Major categories include aluminum extrusions, steel tubing, castings, fasteners and metal fabrication.• Established a sourcing office in Shanghai. Broke even in the first year.• Improved inventory turns from 4.6 to 5.5.

Oversaw the internal Machine Shop, Purchasing and Receiving. Conducted make vs. buy analysis to optimize cost savings. Managed strategic supplier relationships.• Led the Advanced Procurement Group to engage the suppliers and internal stakeholders. Managed procurement projects from the initial design phase to the completion of the final product.• Set sourcing strategies. Categories purchased include control systems, capital equipment (robots, conveyors, vision systems, etc.), mechanical (metal fabricated) components, MRO, etc. Purchased products are integrated into production lines to be installed at customer sites.• Qualified and established new sources for precision machining, casting and plastic injection molding in China to ensure quick delivery and lower cost.

• Oversaw the international procurement office in Shanghai. Redefined the roles and responsibilities of the staff. Established sourcing, supplier auditing, and process and material inspection procedures. Worked with category leaders to implement China sourcing strategies.• Managed the metal fabrication commodity category. Qualified new suppliers in China. Devised a strategy to utilize the strengths of local West European, low-cost East European and Chinese manufacturers to cost-effectively fulfill all metal fabrication requirements in the various Constellium facilities.• Managed the packaging commodity category, which consists of the following subcategories: pallet, lumber, wrapping film, steel/plastic strapping, cardboard, edge board, interleaving paper and paper core. Led the sourcing team, established sourcing strategies and signed contracts for each subcategory.

Managed all sourcing and purchasing functions across all three Valmont facilities in China.• Overhauled the Plant Purchasing Departments. Established new procurement policies to enable the centralized procurement of goods and services throughout Valmont China. Optimized purchasing efficiencies via standardization of parts, development of cost models and timely payment of materials.• Reduced cost by $3M on steel purchases by consolidating sizes to reduce the number of active parts, working with secondary suppliers to create a competitive environment, and aggressive negotiations.• Reduced cost on outsourced metal fabrication parts by $500K by convincing the suppliers to adopt a fact-based, cost-up pricing structure and reduced the number of primary suppliers from 40 to 15.• Improved inventory turns from 6 to 8 by working with Design Engineering to reduce the amount of part numbers, setting up a Kanban system, and working with suppliers to shorten delivery lead times.• Achieved a saving of $1M on indirect commodities (shipping, computers and etc.) by training the buyers on purchasing tactics and negotiation strategies.• Led the capital equipment procurement team for the Guangdong Plant Setup Project. The project budgeted $5M for equipment purchase. The team achieved its procurement goals with $1M under the budget.

• Set up an international procurement office (IPO) in Shanghai. Hired and trained the staff on the strategic sourcing process & methodology, onsite quality audit procedures, and random sampling inspection procedures. Consistently generated $4M of savings per year.• Developed sources in China for castings, forgings, fasteners, metal fabrication, aluminum extrusions, plastic injection molding, agricultural tires, motors, electrical cable, electrical components, and various types of tooling.• Implemented rigorous material inspection procedures for every outgoing shipment to assure the internal customers of the product quality sourced by the Global Sourcing Group (GSG).• Established a rotational cross training program to ensure each project team is experienced in multiple commodities.• Reduced product costs by working with engineering departments to redesign the products to better suit supplier capabilities.

• Key contributor to the following company-wide sourcing projects that resulted in total annual savings of $8M: Steel, Plastics & Rubber, IT Consulting Services, IT Hardware Services, Asset Management Software, Facility Services, and Marketing & Advertising.• Led strategic sourcing due diligence process on potential mergers and acquisitions target that enabled the mergers and acquisitions team to value the target company accurately.• Coached and trained the procurement integration team on the McKinsey & Company's strategic sourcing process for the Kaiser Aerospace acquisition. Participated as a member of the team and made sure the team stayed on track to the project plan. The project achieved phase 1 savings goals of $2M on schedule and as planned.• Coordinated the post-acquisition (Samsung-Mechatronics) integration activities for Strategic Sourcing to integrate Mechatronic's data into the centralized Rockwell Automation procurement database and to optimize savings through the analysis of contracts and procurement data.• Led the database testing in a supplier metrics project. The project standardized the data and the supplier metrics scoring method across all business units.
