Principal Accountabilities:Responsible for data engineering for the machine learning component of RAP (predictive algorithm used for Resource Allocation Program at Technical Safety BC)Responsible for developing and maintaining critical data infrastructures to support machine learning processes and expand data science platform and tools.Responsible for selecting and integrating any Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities such as TensorflowResponsible for monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes through automationCreation of version control and roll back strategy of the machine learning processesApply leadership and promote value of data science to help make sound safety decisions.Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with BI team to support various BI development projectsWork with multiple, complex data sources such as social media APIs and other open source APIsDesign, build, implement & test machine learning models, and ship deployment-ready versions into productionIdentify and implement new data sources/patterns that add significant lift to machine learning modelsDevelop innovative solutions to hard machine learning problemsAble to conduct independent research

Strategy & Planning· Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and product managers.· Work with the DevOps team to develop database architectures, coding standards, quality assurance policies and procedures.· Design and implement redundant systems for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.· Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Operational Management· Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.· Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.· Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.· Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.· Monitor, optimize and allocate data storage for database systems.· Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.· Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.· Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.· Perform database transaction and security audits.· Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.· Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices in database use.· Manage and/or provide guidance to other members of the team.

• Providing Database Administrator (DBA) expertise and support to developers andclients including backup, restore, maintenance, recovery, upgrade, etc.• Deploying, supporting and maintaining development, testing and productionenvironments using physical and/or virtual hardware• Supporting database design (logical and physical) as well as development using SQLand procedural SQL from customer specifications• Performing remote installation of ESRI software (ArcMap/ArcSDE) for projectdeployments• Create and Manage Spatial databases and/or SQL replication update processes• Create and Maintain Python scripts according to project requirements• Validating and unit testing your solutions• Performing peer reviews of other solutions developed by your colleagues• Accurately and concisely documenting your solutions for your peers• Presenting technical information internally and to clients• Proactively identifying bugs and determining root cause to develop workarounds orsolutions• Troubleshooting security and performance issues in development and productionenvironments• Installing revised or new systems by proposing specifications; recommendingoptimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements
