I am the first male in my family not to mine coal. Instead I work on the reclamation of lands and the treatment of water impacted by legacy mining. I have worked the last 16-years as the Mine Drainage Program Coordinator for the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) where I have managed abandoned mine land reclamation projects, design and construction of abandoned mine drainage passive treatment systems, and as Project Manager on what will be the largest and most expensive abandoned mine drainage active treatment plant ever built in the Commonwealth of PA (Morris Run ATP on Tioga River). In 2022, I was the recipient of the Annual Staff Excellence Award. Prior to SRBC, I managed my own watershed consulting business for seven years serving multiple clients in Western Pennsylvania including serving as the Watershed Specialist for the Indiana and Armstrong County Conservation Districts. During that time, I was awarded the first Watershed Renaissance Grant Award ever given by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Growing Greener Program for the restoration of the Bear Run Watershed in northeast Indiana County.During my tenures at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and the California University of Pennsylvania, I served as an Environmental Intern for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation. I am the past Chairman of the Stonycreek Conemaugh River Improvement Project (SCRIP) and have served as President of the Ken Sink Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Evergreen Conservancy.
