This prevents large care gaps often found within challenging rescues and major incidents where incidents can often be protracted. HART Operatives report to the HART Team Leaders and form a small team of 6 as part of the core emergency response to largescale, complex and protracted incidents on behalf of SWASFT and the National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU).Disciplines include:-Breathing apparatus (inspirable atmospheres such as fires and Individual Chemical Exposures ICE/ DICE). - Enhanced Care Skills - Intubation, surgical airway, finger thoracostomy, LUCAS, CAST, advanced analgesia including ketamine and penthrox.- Swift Water and Flood Rescue Technician Level 3 (SRT) - NxGen CBRN-Safe Working at Height (SWaH)-Confined Space- Off-road 4x4 response and ATV 6x6. - Advanced driving course including Convoy Training. - High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID). - USAR (light). - Support to Security Operations (SSO) involving close work with ARV, Counter Terror and UK Special Forces. As of 2023-4, I have become an ATV instructor, requiring extra training and a qualification at level 3 in Adult Education (AET). Additionally, I am the unit's observer liaison organising all observer shifts for students, staff and external stakeholders in the region. In 2024 I started work as part of a team of two introducing the new HART Fleet and adapting the national specification to integrate with the reginal needs of the South West. Alongside this, I have been involved in the role out of Airbox Systems SWASFT HART are currently trialling, using the MOSAIC system to aid emergency response. The ABX Lead role for HART South involves training staff on the system and ensuring all devices remain operational. Show less

This is a volunteer position for the charity FMS, developing paramedic skills in a remote and challenging setting. The stage team are positioned to respond to life threatening conditions within crowds often reaching numbers of over 120,000 people. This employment also covers the build and teardown of the Glastonbury Festival site, sub-contracted by Glastonbury Festivals Events Ltd. I have provided medical cover for FMS on site for a number of years during pre/post build. The build of the temporary structures on the 1100 acre site requires months of work and thousands of staff and volunteers. FMS under the change of license provide an emergency response to accidents on site, as well as running a minor injuries clinic at the farm as a solo clinician. Skills gained from FMS include operating vehicles in densely populated areas, triage, 4x4 driving, minor injuries clinic and working with different and limited resources. Exposure to challenging environments is also an advantage to working with FMS, such as in high volume areas, strobing, working in field hospital settings and variable weather conditions. Show less
