The main research focus in the Cotter Laboratory is in understanding the role of cell signalling pathways, in particular those that are redox regulated and active, in tumour cell survival and in degenerative conditions of the retina. We also have extensive expertise in biochemical assay development and providing advice to the Biotech Industry. Experience of 2 biotech start ups and served on the boards of several state agencies and companies.Founding Board Member of Science Foundation Ireland (Ireland largest research funding agency), former SAB member of the Tyndall National Institute and current SAB member of the Institut de la Vision Paris. I was also awarded the Boyle Medal for research (Ireland most prestigious science award).
