Thomas'​ practice primarily focuses on assisting corporations within the oil and gas and power generation sectors with general corporate and commercial matters, project development, internal reorganizations and private mergers and acquisitions. His related experience includes drafting and negotiating corporate agreements, preparing opinions on various industry-related legal issues and conducting corporate due diligence, including title review of subsurface mineral leases.Thomas was seconded to the Blakes Gulf offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia where his practice covered a range of international corporate and commercial matters. While in the Gulf, he acted for some of the largest enterprises in the Middle East, including Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company Limited, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sinopec.SELECT EXPERIENCEThomas has assisted senior counsel representing: •Agrium Inc. in connection with its C$1.8-billion supported funding of Glencore International plc's C$6.1-billion acquisition of Viterra Inc and the subsequent acquisition by Agrium of Viterra's wholesale and retail agri-products division, and on its C$915-million disposition of Viterra's interest in Canadian Fertilizer Limited's nitrogen production facilities to CF Industries•ENMAX Corporation on its purchase from Encana Corporation of the 115 MW, natural-gas-fired, Cavalier electricity generation facility located near Strathmore, Alberta, and of Encana's 50 per cent interest in the 110 MW, natural-gas-fired, Balzac electricity generation facility located near Balzac, Alberta•TCA Energy Ltd. in the completion of a C$240-million joint venture partnership with Bellatrix Exploration Ltd. for the drilling and development of lands in the Ferrier Cardium area of west central Alberta•Suncor Energy Marketing Inc. in connection with its electricity supply trading and development business
