Thomas DeLeo was also for 30 years a principal in a firm that provided conservation and curatorial services for museums and collectors, and a consultant to trade importers of decorative and fine arts and antiquities. He is a member of the Fan Circle International (London), Cercle de L’eventail (Paris) where he serves on their Experts Committee and the Fan Association of North America. He has been Vice President of the FANA organization and was granted life honorary membership in May 2008 for recognition of contributions to the group over the years, chaired the Museum Committee, co-edited the FANA Journal and has served on the Board of Directors. He is an Advisor to the Hand Fan Museum of Healdsburg and is a life member of the Friends of the Fan Museum (Greenwich). He was on the Board of Trustees of a small regional museum and served as their Treasurer and Curator of Fans. In 2001 he was the recipient of the Martin Wilcox Prize by the Fan Circle International for the best-researched article published that year.
