We people are realizing more and more civil and mining structures underground. These types of interventions in the earth all have something in common: the uncertainty of the geological ground and the associated risks for people and the environment. Engineering geophysics can help us obtain more valuable information in very difficult environments and ultimately minimize geological hazards. However, ambiguity is one of the key words that sometimes excludes a fruitful coexistence of geoscientific and engineering approaches. Achieving common understanding and acceptance between disciplines is a mission that can only be successful in multidisciplinary production and success of new concepts and technologies. This is precisely my interest and the driver for my motivation to do my job passionately day after day.
