The Miller Center of Public Affairs is a nonpartisan affiliate of the University of Virginia that specializes in presidential scholarship, public policy, and political history. As a Graduate Research Assistant, my primary responsibilities included analyzing primary source materials as well as researching key White House and Congressional officials from every presidential administration since Gerald Ford. The briefing books that I prepared with this information were used to assist scholars as well as former officials in preparing for upcoming oral history interviews.

As a legislative intern in the Office of U.S. Senator Mark Warner, my responsibilities included drafting policy summaries, attending committee hearings, conducting legislative research, facilitating casework, and engaging with constituents from across the Commonwealth of Virginia. I worked directly with the Senator’s legislative counsel on a number of judiciary-related legislative assignments including criminal justice reform, voting rights protections, and federal court nominations.

The Common Grounds Campus Challenge is a campaign sponsored by the U.Va. Center for Politics aimed at improving civil and political discourse on college campuses across the country. In the lead-up to the campaign's launch in Spring 2022, my primary responsibilities included coordinating social media outreach as well as helping to promote the student-produced documentary that coincided with the initiative — "Common Grounds?"

The U.Va. Center for Politics is a nonpartisan affiliate of the University of Virginia that focuses on promoting civic knowledge and engagement. As a Research Assistant during the Spring 2021 semester, I analyzed recently declassified documents from the National Archives relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This research was supervised by Professor Larry J. Sabato, the Director of the U.Va. Center for Politics, and will be used in an upcoming book about Kennedy's presidency and assassination. In addition to this, I helped to edit Sabato's Crystal Ball — a nationally renowned weekly publication containing election forecasts for state and federal races around the country.

As a summer legal intern, I assisted prosecutors in preparing for a wide array of upcoming criminal cases. In this role, I gained familiarity with proceedings in all three of Virginia's trial courts — General District Court, Circuit Court, as well as Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. I also conducted research concerning Virginia criminal law as well as relevant case law.

Over the summer, I crafted a detailed policy memorandum advising Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and future Governors on how best to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic based upon lessons drawn from recent crises in the Commonwealth’s history. My focus was specifically concentrated on the impact of lockdown measures with my research primarily drawing from the technical, logistical, and political lessons of the 2002 D.C. Sniper Crisis.
