As a Child Protection Technical Coordinator, I am leading the development and management of the IRC South Sudan Country Program's Child Protection and Education Programs. In accordance with the CPMS 2009, I have designed multiple protection programs in a humanitarian context for the last four years, focusing on preventing abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence against conflict and crisis-affected children and assisting those who have already been harmed to heal, recover, and feel safe again. I am well experienced in the following components of CP responses, including case management, family tracing and reunification, mental health and psychosocial support, and Community Based Child Protection Mechanisms (CBCPM) to address the dire needs of the most vulnerable children and their caregivers. I have been designing and implementing multiple programs for the following donors: BHA/OFDA, BPRM, SIDA, GFFO, DFID/FCDO, IrishAid, SV, UNICEF, OCHA/SSHF, and End Violence. I am supporting all the IRC sectors such as GBV, education, health, nutrition, and livelihood to be conscious while program design, strategic, aligned, and directed toward a stronger response and protection mainstreaming of promoting meaningful access, safety, and dignity in humanitarian response with due emphasis on gender equality and the inclusion of people with disability.I supervise six program managers in various field locations, overseeing over 61 staff. I am also responsible for budget management and approval of payments and procurement requests up to a maximum of $7,000. Producing periodic donor reports, lesson learnt and success stories regularly. Additionally, coordinating and networking with various clusters, such as Protection and Education Clusters, the CP Sub-Cluster, and the PSEA task force. Additionally, I have experience participating in donor meetings to share programmatic lessons learned, conduct needs assessments, and identify new funding sources to improve child wellbeing and safety.

Addis Ababa

As a Youth Development and Child Protection Program Specialist, I led the development and management of child protection and youth development programs in the development and humanitarian context through 13 local partners. I directed and provided guidance to ChildFund implementing partners in the right-based participatory planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation processes for youth and child protection programs/projects. I have coordinated the mapping of community-based child protection mechanisms and designed a program that strengthens the formal and informal structures. I have technically supported the Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Project funded by UNICEF and implemented by ChildFund International in Oromia and SNNPR, Ethiopia. I have also led the development of a program strategy that focused on youth aged 15–24 years using a child protection lens with the active participation of local partners, young men, and women. Led the implementation of program initiatives that prepare young men and women for gainful employment, benefit from youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services and promote leadership and civic engagement. In addition, guiding implementing partners in the interventions that promote young men and women's acceptance of their role as participants and contributors to their community and local economy. Moreover, I have coordinated the implementation of protection projects for child protection and GBV in three regions of Amhara, SNNPR, and Oromia through the funding of SIDA, AusAid, and KOICA. Furthermore, I have reviewed periodic donor reports, success stories, and briefings for marketing.

Addis Ababa

As a project coordinator for the Communities Caring for Children Program (CCCP) in Ethiopia, I coordinated the implementation of the multi-sectoral (Child Protection, Early Childhood Development, and Livelihood) and multi-country program (Ethiopia, Uganda, and Mozambique). I have coordinated the development of work plans and made sure that project plans, budgets, and activities were done on time and in a good way. Prepared best practices, donor reports, beriefings, and strengthened community-based child protection mechanisms. Provided Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) training for child protection committees. Established parenting groups for VSLA and Better Parenting programs and addressed more than 64 groups with 1368 members. Facilitated Micro Enterprise Selection Planning and Management (ME-SPM) training for saving group member mothers and technically supported them to engage in various IGAs. Coordinated various baseline surveys, mid-term evaluations, and community consultations for the various local partners using quantitative and qualitative research methods. Participated in and led the process of need assessment, project designing/appraisal, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects. Coordination with other CCC programs in Uganda and Mozambique.

As the Area Sponsorship and Child Protection Coordinator, I coordinated sponsorship and Child Protection activities of the Child Fund local partners and achieved progressive improvement in organizational performance. Supervised and led the Child Protection Officers and Sponsor relations staff in SNNPR local partners. Facilitated community sensitization programs and assist communities on the establishment of a community-based organization (CBO) and Child and Youth Forums. Facilitated the preparation of country strategic planning of ChildFund and Area Strategic Planning including community consultation, establishing baseline data, analysis, and project proposal development for partner organizations operating in the SNNP, Oromia, Addis Ababa and Amhara Regions. Conducted quarterly Monitoring of program implementations of ChildFund Ethiopia local partner organizations and give the necessary technical support and capacity building on the gaps identified. Conducted a series of training for Local Partners staff, board members, volunteers, children and youth forum members on sponsorship requirements, policies and procedures, and how to comply with it. Conducted Organizational Capacity Assessment/OCA/ of partner organizations and prepared a capacity building plan based on the assessment result.
