Presented a technical paper: Exploration in the Mesopotamian Basin: Cretaceous Lowstand Reservoir Potential GEO 2018 13th Middle East Geosciences Conference and Exhibition in Manama, Bahrain• Role was to evaluate and risk the prospectivity of multiple basins. • Worked West Africa Douala Basin; identified new play concepts using analogues from conjugate margin. • 1.5 years experience working the geology in the Middle East • Regional work - applying a sequence stratigraphic framework to wells and correlated picks across numerous countries. • Generated GDE maps depicting flood and regressive surfaces to produce play fairway maps, which led to the identification of new petroleum system elements. • Used seismic, wells, field data and literature to create play cross sections in passive, rift, intra-shelf and inversion basin settings. • Published basin reports for multi-national petroleum companies. Skills: Vast experience working carbonates. For Red Rock Resources and North Atlantic Mining Associates (NAMA) joint venture in Melville Bugt, NWGreenland. The project was in iron ore exploration and I joined in the second field season. My rolecomprised of carrying out all geotechnical work on the cut-core (btw) delivered to base camp. Andassisted in detailed mapping of Havik East.Work included:-• Core reconstruction• Core measuring and meter marking.• RQD analysis• Measuring the specific gravity at regular intervals• Recording the magnetic susceptibility of the rock at 1m spacings.• XRF sampling, having been trained to use a Niton Goldd+ Analyser. And then processing theassays onto ‘Excel' for use in ‘Micromine'.• Carried out the photography of the core.• Cutting the core and organizing it into sample bags.Later in the season I also logged, sampled and measured orientation of the core with close supervision of the senior geologists on sight.I was also involved in the logistics of unloading the supply ship as well as coordinating helicopter slingingoperations from the ship to campsite.
