Finally, and probably most critically in the "ultimate scheme of things," it is in Tom’s role as Family Man that he truly shines. In all candor, his devotion to his wife and boundless adoration for their (3, 4 … 10? – I’ve lost count!) daughters are palpable and profound. Indeed, it is in this context, perhaps, that I hold Tom in the highest esteem, because, somehow (whether through some wizardry or science-fiction technology … like a time machine, or the ability to be in two places at once), he gets it ALL done: Husband, Father, Lawyer, Friend—basically, the whole enchilada. And THAT, in my humble opinion, is a genuinely stunning and stellar accomplishment, especially in this day and age, and in particular at Boies, Schiller & Flexner—a law firm where, it is no secret, a great many sacrifices have been made over the years, by countless individuals, in pursuit of the twin goals of Excellence and Achievement in legal advocacy and client representation. Tom has made his share of those sacrifices, to be sure; nonetheless, he has managed not only to work it all out, but to do so with distinction and aplomb. So, there you have it: just about the best recommendation I can give, because Tom Higgs is one of the very finest human beings (whether in his role as my friend, a fellow attorney, a respected family man—with Tom, those roles are very difficult to parse out) I have ever known or had the pleasure and honor of working with. In sum, I recommend Tom, with absolutely no hesitation, qualification, or mental reservation of any kind on my part, for any role in connection with which my input might be helpful and/or relevant."
