Starting in a boutique joinery warehouse as a teenager, I then moved into a carpentry role and began my apprenticeship. I worked for a builder who did it all, just him and me. Designing and building new residential homes from start to finish is where I honed a quality and integrity focussed mindset. I completed my apprenticeship and started by own business falling into the outdoor decking and renovations speciality without even trying. I twisted and turned through the business world dealing with everything a small business does and doing it all alone for many years. I then travelled to Canada for a couple of years before returning to complete my Cert IV in Building and Construction. Focussing on my passion for building I intentionally specialised the business in an alfresco building and renovations company, Dekhar Pty Ltd. I have always loved business and the idea of innovating and solving problems that come with sales and business. In the process I have dabbled with many different business ideas and how they could become most profitable, it's almost a mindset I have in my spare time. The decision to go to university wasn't a light one but I couldn't think of how to adapt to engineering or architecture, then the idea of doing an MBA came along, and my heart filled. I am currently doing my MBA with the Australian Institute of Business and look forward to the future prospects offered from my experience in business and my formal qualifications. My businesses don't currently operate and I'm now a lead trainer and assessor for a Brisbane RTO. I have inadvertently slipped into a business development role trying to help build the small business into something special. I am engaging a new arm of the business that will train higher level skills in business, finance and project management, my passions. I'm looking forward to the experience and prospects these bring in future. And I only hope I can bring my prowess to the business that allows me stretch my business legs and run.
