• Took on two specific sub-projects, focusing on testing garnet scintillators and APDs, as well as utilizing and customizing a new FPGA to analyze pulses from detectors.• Broadened and deepened skill with IGOR, specifically in pulse acquisition and analysis. Learned extensively about APDs and signal processing.• Collaborated with electrical engineers and programmers to debug and optimize pulse analysis code, leading to in-depth knowledge of the detector systems being tested. Identified new thermal challenges with APDs and brought UCSB and LLNL together to collaborate on my senior project to solve this challenge.
