About Thomas Knoll

Welcome to my profile!I am a PhD candidate in Computational Chemistry at Stony Brook University in New York, working with the Institute for Advanced Computational Science. My research focuses on theoretical photochemistry, specifically the development and application of quantum chemical methods. My expertise spans a wide range of areas, including quantum chemistry, data and computational science, and software development. I am skilled in programming languages such as Python and C++, and experienced with high-performance computing techniques and various quantum chemistry software (TeraChem, OpenMolcas, ORCA, Gaussian).Throughout my academic career, I have had the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, by (co-)authoring publications and presenting at major conferences (such as ACS or SIAM). I am passionate about bridging the interdisciplinary gap between theoretical research and practical applications, especially in the realm of photophysics and material science.I am fluent in German, English, and French and I have training in communicating complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. I am also committed to community engagement, having actively participated in student councils, professional societies and clubs.Feel free to connect with me for collaboration, research inquiries, or discussions about computational chemistry, applied mathematics and related fields!
