Targeted Youth Services Volunteer
In the process of becoming a volunteer working with the Targeted Youth Support Service and Youth Offending teams at Wigan council.I had interviewed for a role as a Reparations Supervisor for Youth Offenders in Sheffield for Remedi but wasn't successful due to a lack of experience in the sector so it was advised that I volunteer to gain that experience, knowledge and increase skills. I reached out to local councils and organisations to see if I could volunteer and Wigan council were the first to respond and get me started so I'm gaining new skills and learning new things currently. I have certificates for Raising Awareness of the Impact of CSE, Domestic Violence and Organised Crime Gangs on Young People and Safeguarding and Contextual Safeguarding so far as part of courses I've completed.Hopefully as part of the ongoing role I'll be able to mentor Youth Offenders and work with them to do their reparations work and give back to the community as part of their sentences.
Supply Teaching Assistant
Working in primary schools on an ad-hoc basis when needed throughout Merseyside. Have mainly been based in Liverpool. Have done both long term placements and short term - day to day or a week - since 2019.I've been fortunate enough to slip in and be an effective staff member in the roles I've had and never felt out of place or just 'the supply' so I believe it bolstered my interpersonal skills, not just with adults but with children. I like to get on with the people I work with and that is essential when working in a difficult environment like education where the children and stresses of the job can test your resolve.
Voluntary Counsellor
Providing counselling services to members of the public in need of help with their mental health. I worked with a wide demographic of people from different ages, backgrounds, genders and situations and used the training and knowledge learned through my various courses to effect a better outcome for them.I am a naturally empathic person who lives to listen and communicate with deep conversation and trust being things I both value and felt privieged to be a part of. Seeing the change in my clients from their initial session right through to the end felt incredibly powerful and rewarding whilst always being challenging and informative. It was great for personal development of communication skills, bolstering my personal traits and for job satisfaction. There are 100 hours required by ABC to qualify as a counsellor and I ended with my final client on 121. I had to book in with Harmony and manage my clients
Warehouse Associate
Due to COVID making it harder to go into a school as a teaching assistant I decided to apply for a local warehouse role provided by PMP recruitment agency for Amazon. Contracted until Christmas, I was kept on until the work dried up in February. When the warehouse was busy it felt invigorating being part of a busy hive of activity, constantly doing something and getting a physical workout in a huge building. As part of the teams in different sections I was able to break a record for the amount of inbound delivery processed which felt great at the time and the management of that section made sure that everybody on shift that day knew how appreciative they were of the hard work which felt good.
Sales Assistant
Running a local independent shop in St. Helens. Opening up, maintaining the facilities, cashing up and then getting the shop ready for sales that day.The shop had bespoke equipment for pouring beer into 1 litre and 2 litre containers/bottles so I was trained on how to pour properly, maintain and clean the equipment and flush the lines so that health and safety was adhered to. As I was the only one in the shop on my shift I had to maintain the building too so chasing wiring and circuit issues, wifi problems, drainage and cleaning issues were all part of the role.I really enjoyed this job and had a great rapport with customers, both regular and new to the business and believe that I brought extra business in due to my friendly nature and customer service skills. Quite often I would share a tasting glass with a customer as they had decided that if I wasn't going to try the product then it wasn't worth buying so we had plenty of time to chat about anything and everything. The role taught me the value of responsibility being the sole employee on a given shift and I treated the place with the utmost respect because of it.
Customer Service Assistant
Not continously working but in various periods from 2016 to 2018 in all areas of the Gemini store.Working as part of a busy team either managing stock and shopfloor standards or serving and assisting customers both on the tills and floating throughout the building.A friendly and helpful attitude to both staff and customers helped as I developed great relationships with coworkers and good rapport with customers. Making sure to go the extra yard to ensure the customer felt valued and got exactly what they needed when they walked in was something I used to love doing and I was rewarded for that at times by getting noted in the weekly mentions by management for good customer service where little awards are given out.
Volunteer Experience Host
Picked up occasional days volunteer work at the National Football Museum, interacting with members of the public to explain and inform about the exhibits whilst talking about football which made it a great place to be.Due to a friend working at the museum I also got to meet the then current Manchester United player, Juan Mata who was a very friendly guy and a hero of mine which was amazing. I also got to lift the Premier League, FA and League Cups which felt great. The museum receives visitors from all around the world so it was nice to speak to people from everywhere and get to know them, speak about the teams and players that they loved and find out little details that they enjoyed that might relate to a certain exhibit. One of my favourite parts was working on the table that displayed how football had changed throughout the years with different shirts, boots, tickets, fan items and so on where you could detail and tell a story to those listening and have both young and old interact with the items and communicate based off that. Seeing children look on in wonder as their parents or grandparents explained to them what it was like back in the old days was a great part of the role.
Customer Service Assistant
Working on the ladies department in the Gemini store. Serving customers on the tills using customer service experience and skills to ensure great customer experiences. Helping members of the public with queries regarding products and ordering products to suit their needs.Management of stock, unloading and sorting and shopfloor standards was all included in the role.Unfortunately during the time I was suffering with my mental health but the staff at Gemini looked after me very well and I'm very grateful to them for that.
Administrative Clerk
Working as part of a busy team using SAP to book inbound and outbound deliveries to and from the warehouse in Liverpool. Managing the warehouse from an IT side by ensuring the right stock was allocated to the right load for outbound deliveries whilst ensuring that the correct inbound delivery stock was allocated to the right spot in the warehouse for future use.The role was hugely busy and always changing and challenging.
Customer Service Assistant
Seasonal work for the busy Christmas period. Dealing with increased customer levels and working to ensure that the Christmas season went as smoothly as could be reasonably done. Experiencing stressful environments with increased customer needs whilst performing the usual shopfloor tasks as efficiently sa possible.
Customer Service Assistant
Started off as a seasonal role for the Christmas period but was kept on due to hard work, my approach with customers and my willingness to work as much as possible. I learnt how to deal with customer queries and work out what they needed whilst developing sales and upselling techniques on the go. I was positioned in the foodhall area of the store but worked in every department when needed as extra staff so got to experience different types of customers based on where I worked and what they needed/wanted.I was dedicated and took the role seriously and was noted as always being on the go as I didn't like to stand still and always wanted something to do which I believe helped when it came time to reviewing my contract.I left to study Games Software Development at Sheffield Hallam University.
Administrator
Working as part of the administrative team to assist in the training and development of candidates by preparing paperwork, managing databases and liaising with contractors and clients.I was mainly in charge of preparing the paperwork for each candidate and the trainer to deliver as part of the courses that Utilise provided.
Gas Service Administrator
I started off in this role preparing court documents and managing a database of houses centred around ensuring compliance and safety with regards to gas services in tenant's homes. The role involved liaising with tenancy officers in the company, management, external contractors and most importantly the tenants themselves to ensure that each house on our internal list was compliant and up to code. It was always challenging trying to juggle who was doing what at any given time and also challenging working with tenants who had a variety of issues that meant that they weren't often forthcoming in allowing people into their homes. This meant that relationship building skills were needed in a big way to make sure the job was done. When I took over the role it wasn't an intensive training regime and thus at the beginning, I struggled to do it effectively but when a new manager of the department came into the company, he worked with me to try and understand the problems and implement a new system to effectively bring a giant list of out of compliance houses down to very few if any. It felt good to be consulted and included as part of a change of direction and seeing the progress with the list decreasing in size added to that.
Administrator
My first full time job.I was part of a time tasked with preparing funding paperwork so that the company recieved payment for the services rendered to candidates. This meant excellent attention to detail, working under pressure and as part of a team and time management were things that I developed along the way.During my time in this role I was also in charge of editing paperwork and presentations to be compliant and relevant with the company offering it's training to companies and candidates in India.
Stockroom Assistant
My first job.Initially taken on for the busy Christmas period but kept on once contracts were reviewed. I was based in the stockroom unpacking deliveries and sorting both in the stockrooms and on the shopfloor. I learnt team work, communication and customer service skills during this time. I was often deployed on the shopfloor to assist customers and maintain shopfloor standards, especially during busy sales periods.
