Collaboration with Dr. Yohsuke Ohtsubo to examine the structure and function of evolved forgiveness mechanisms, and how these mechanisms are influenced by socio-ecological variance. This project was funded jointly by the National Science Foundation EAPSI program, and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science.

I studied under Dr. Adele Hayes, seeking to establish the emotional, cognitive, and physiological correlates of PTSD and depression, and how those correlates change over the course of therapy. Working alongside a team of graduate students and research assistants, I coded trauma and depression narratives submitted by patients that received therapeutic treatment based on the research developed in our lab. Our primary goal was to capture resolution longitudinal changes in psychology and physiology experiences in order to locate the causal mechanisms underlying PTSD and depression. In addition to coding duties, my primary responsibilities included creating an agenda for weekly conference calls with lab members, leading the weekly conference call, entering paper-and-pencil data into a digital database, and securing client records to ensure patient confidentiality.

I studied under Dr. D. Michael Kuhlman, investigating the stable social preferences that govern socially interdependent decision-making, as well as emotion, trust, signaling theory, and cooperation. I conducted original research on these topics for my senior thesis, which examined the relationships between facial-width-to-height ratio (fWHR), self-perceptions of neuroticism, and observer perceptions of neuroticism. and observer perceptions of neuroticism. My primary activities included: proctoring experiments, creating stimuli for experiments (e.g., standardized photographs of faces), developing and designing research projects, and analyzing data.

I interned under the supervision of Dr. Charles Webb at the Terry Children's Psychiatric Center. My primary responsibility was monitoring children diagnosed with PTSD, with the aim of creating a safe and friendly environment for them while their primary caregiver received therapy as part of our therapeutic treatment plan. I also equipped patients with an ECG measurement device during therapy sessions in order to collect objective physiological data that was time-stamped in parallel with audio recordings used for coding (see "Experience - Research Assistant - Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Lab" for more information).
