I was responsible for managing an inpatient human fMRI sleep research study. I am involved in the research design, administration, data collection, data analysis and findings presentation aspects of the study.Research Design- I aided in the initial development of study procedures and contributed to their evolution over the course of the study process - I wrote standard operating procedures for many aspects of the overnight MRI sleep study including: + Artifact-correction procedures for concurrent EEG-fMRI recordings + Home-monitoring prior to admission to the inpatient portion of the study +The use of study software and equipment Research Administration- I created an online survey website used as a initial screening step for participation in an overnight MRI sleep protocol. I also managed the website survey results and interviewed over 100 prospective volunteers to determine study eligibility- I served as the primary volunteer liaison for the protocol. I was responsible for: informing volunteers of study procedures, answering questions, scheduling appointments, ensuring attendance at those appointments and maintaining constant contact with volunteers - I aided in the preparation of study documents for institutional auditData Collection-I operated a 3T human MRI scanner during overnight MRI scansData Analysis-I drafted an artifact-correction routine used to clean EEG signal data prior to analysis. Then used that routine to remove MRI scanner and cardio-ballistic artifact from over 100 EEG-fMRI recordings.-I subsequently scored the corrected EEG recordings for sleep based on standard criteria. - I conceived an independent research project on archival concurrent EEG-fMRI data focused on using fMRI to better understand the phenomenon of sleep inertia - I wrote a manuscript outlining the procedure used in our study to successfully obtain long durations of sleep in people inside the MRI scanner
