Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in Dual Diagnosis specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals with co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), other anxiety disorders, and mood disorders.I work in the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program (ADTP) and a Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program for homeless veterans (REACH Domiciliary). My training includes Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) through the Outpatient PTSD Clinic and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) for Veterans that present in the earlier stages of treatment. In addition, I work within interdisciplinary teams in both the outpatient clinic(s) and residential programs to oversee the care of Veterans with clinically complex needs. I am working with both male and female veterans of all ages, including a growing cohort of returning veterans. Research focus is on program evaluation and program improvement approaches in the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program.

Rotations in Primary Care, Psycho-oncology and Substance Use Disorders. As a psychology intern in Primary Care Mental Health in the Center for Health and Wellness. Responsibilities included "warm hand off" and "curb-side" consults, scheduled appointments, time-limited behavioral interventions for a variety of behavioral health concerns (e.g. smoking cessation, insomnia, anxiety, weight loss, depression). In psycho-oncology responsibilities included hand-off and consults for patients in all stages of their cancer, including the recently diagnosed, active treatment, terminal and in remission. In addition to individual session I co-facilitated a weekly prostate cancer support group, started a head and neck cancer support group and participated in weekly Tumor Board Meetings and presented on the mental health and adjustment difficulties faced by specific patients. Responsibilities in the Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Program (SARRTP) included individual interventions focused on substance use and related disorders, case management and daily group facilitation.

Designed and implemented a weekly psychoeducation and social support group program for weight loss. Conducted a weekly group for a medically managed weight loss program. Conducted pre-group interviews on all new group members and updated group materials as needed.

Behavioral Health Consultant for a state-funded interdisciplinary healthcare team aimed at reducing healthcare utilization for a select population of high-utilizing indigent care patients. Worked closely with a fully integrated care team including physicians, social workers, nurse practitioners, nurse case managers, and pharmacists to plan treatment strategies for complex patients with multiple medical and mental health comorbities. Responsibilities included "warm hand off" and "curb-side" consults, scheduled appointments, time-limited behavioral interventions, and facilitating a weekly chronic pain group. Additional activities include coordinating with referral agencies (e.g. community services board, outpatient psychiatry), presenting program evaluation data and clinical case studies at quarterly meetings, and providing training to team members on behavioral health issues.

Worked with adolescents and their families to obtain substance abuse treatment services. Coordinated weekly clinical rounds as well as a clinical drug testing program for 40 adolescents. Developed and assisted in the implementation of a smoking cessation intervention for substance using adolescents. Provided community education and outreach presentations on the effects of substance use and available treatment for substance abuse.
